WIC Training Opportunities

Get the training you need to become a Nutrition Assistant for the Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC) at Community Resource Project, Inc. This is a four-week training program is designed to help you learn and develop critical skills the WIC Program is looking for.

Participants accepted into this program will learn from interactive classroom instruction, observation and hands-on experiences about WIC program services, functions and responsibilities delivering nutrition education and benefits to a vulnerable and diverse population of new mothers, babies and children. No prior experience necessary!

Our curriculum is developed to incorporate up to 40 hours of entry-level training on critical and essential skills to successfully function as a Nutrition Assistant I with the WIC Program. You’ll graduate with a strong understanding of the WIC Program, policies, procedures and role in the larger health system. You will learn and apply general office skills and customer service strategies to over-the-phone services. Specific duties will include applicant screening, determining eligibility, WIC card issuance, understanding of WIC benefits and allowable foods in addition to referring WIC participants to other community services. You will also receive exposure to and basic functionality of our WIC-specific Management Information System, WIC WISE.

Program Dates:

The WIC Nutrition Assistant - Basic Training/Trainee Program will launch in Sacramento on December 1st. Training will occur in-person at one of our WIC locations in Sacramento County, up to 4 hours/day.  A stipend will be provided upon successful completion of core competencies.
